Why visit
Only practical window for most travelers. Diskit Monastery, Hunder Sand Dunes, Bactrian camel rides, and Siachen base area are all accessible. Khardung La road is open.
Keep in mind
Peak Ladakh season - July and August are very busy. Hunder camps and Diskit guesthouses book out weeks ahead.
Why visit
Quieter shoulder months. May can be pleasant if Khardung La has cleared. October has beautiful golden colours.

Khardung La may still be snowed over in early May. October accommodation starts closing from mid-month.

Remote winter experience for very well-prepared travelers. Snow leopard sightings possible.

How to Reach Nubra Valley
Intercity connectivity and travel options
Leh airport (~150 km via Khardung La) is the nearest. Khardung La road is open roughly June to October. Inner Line Permit required for Nubra Valley - arrange in Leh.

Local transport
Hired SUVs from Leh are the only practical option. Shared taxis occasionally run between Diskit and Hunder. No public transport in the valley.
