Turtuk Village lies roughly 90 kilometers beyond Hunder and was part of Pakistan until 1971, giving it a Balti culture, language, and stone architecture distinct from the rest of Ladakh. Apricot orchards line the narrow village lanes, and the pace of life feels noticeably different from the busier Diskit Hunder circuit. Most visitors treat it as an overnight stop given the distance, adding a cultural dimension rarely found elsewhere in the region.
