How to Reach Lachen

Intercity connectivity and travel options

Bagdogra airport (~125 km) or Pakyong airport (limited flights) are nearest. New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railhead then road to Gangtok (~115 km) and onward to Lachen (~120 km from Gangtok).

Getting Around

Hired SUVs from Gangtok are the only practical option. No public transport to Lachen. Same vehicle usually covers Lachen, Gurudongmar Lake, and Thangu Valley.
