Best Time to Visit Dindigul
Plan your trip around the right season
Why visit
Cooler, dry days suit the climb up the Rock Fort and walks around the old town.
Keep in mind
Weekend traffic towards Kodaikanal and Palani passes through town, and the Palani Thaipusam rush in January fills buses and trains.
Why visit
Festival season: the Kottai Mariamman Masi festival often runs into March, and the Chithirai festival at Abirami Amman Temple falls in April and May.
Keep in mind
Afternoons get very hot, so climb the fort early in the morning or late in the day.
Why visit
Heat eases and the surrounding hills turn greener; a good time to pair Dindigul with Sirumalai or Kodaikanal.
Keep in mind
