About Sheopur

Madhya Pradesh

Overview

Sheopur is the district town of northwestern Madhya Pradesh closest to Kuno National Park, the park chosen for Project Cheetah, where African cheetahs have been released since 2022. The Kuno River runs through the forest, and the old Palpur fort stands inside the core area. Kuno has three safari gates, Tiktoli, Ahera and Peepalbawadi, and the town offers lodges, fuel and supplies for trips into the park. Sightings of cheetahs, leopards and wolves depend on luck, so plan more than one safari if you can.
