About Chitkul

Chitkul is often called the last inhabited village on the old Hindustan-Tibet road in the Sangla Valley. Wooden houses sit above the Baspa River, with fields running up toward the high passes. The walk to Mathi temple and the riverbank, plus the drive in from Sangla, are the usual reasons people come this far. Weather and road status decide the season, and winters close much of the valley.
