Gangaur is a festival of the goddess Gauri, or Parvati, celebrated across Rajasthan for about 18 days after Holi. Women make clay images of Gauri and Shiva, worship them each morning and pray for marital happiness, and unmarried girls pray for a good husband. The festival ends in Chaitra with processions. In Jaipur, the image of Gangaur is carried out of the Zenana Deodhi of City Palace and through Tripolia Bazaar and the old city with folk dancers, musicians and decorated camels and horses. Udaipur and Jodhpur also hold large Gangaur processions.
