Rambagh Palace (Taj)

Rambagh Palace was built in 1835 as a garden retreat, later used as a royal guesthouse and hunting lodge, and expanded in the early 20th century into the main residence of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II. After independence it became one of India's first palace hotels, and Taj Hotels has managed it since 1972. Expect Indo Saracenic architecture and large formal gardens, about 8 km from the walled city on Bhawani Singh Road. Suvarna Mahal, the palace's former banquet hall, is now its fine dining restaurant.
