Yercaud
Yercaud is a compact Shevaroy hill station above Salem, often called the Jewel of the South. A lake sits at the centre of town, with coffee plantations, orange groves, and viewpoints such as Lady's Seat and Pagoda Point around the ridge. It is quieter and less commercial than Ooty or Kodaikanal, which suits short weekend escapes from the plains. The Botanical Survey orchidarium and short treks toward Servarayan Temple add variety without long drives. Yercaud works well for two or three nights of cool weather, boating, and plantation walks.
