Kharsali, the village of the Yamunotri temple priests, is the winter home of Goddess Yamuna. After the Yamunotri temple closes on Bhai Dooj, her Utsav Doli is brought down and installed at the Yamuna temple here, known as Khushimath, and she is worshipped through the winter until the doors at Yamunotri reopen on Akshaya Tritiya. The old Shani Dev temple stands in the same village.
