Surya Kund is a natural thermal spring located right beside Yamunotri Temple, with water hot enough to cook rice and potatoes wrapped in cloth. Pilgrims prepare this mixture as prasad and offer it to Goddess Yamuna before entering the shrine. Named after the sun god Surya, believed to be Yamuna's father, the spring carries deep religious significance. Steam rising against the cold mountain air adds to its atmosphere, making it a well visited stop on the Yamunotri pilgrimage route.
