Tirunelveli (Nellai) is a southern Tamil Nadu city at the foot of the Western Ghats, known for Nellaiappan Temple, the palm-lined Tiruchabai court, and easy day trips to Courtallam, Papanasanam, and the Manimuthar hills. Stay here if you want a real town base for waterfalls and temple circuits rather than a hill-station night. It also works as a stop toward Kanyakumari or an alternative to busier Madurai.
