The Centenary Farmers Market is a two storey covered market beside the Wang Chhu where farmers from across the region sell vegetables, fruit, red rice, dried chillies and cubes of hard yak cheese. It is the place to see the ingredients behind dishes like ema datshi. Cross the cantilever footbridge over the river to reach stalls selling handicrafts, prayer flags and souvenirs. It is liveliest at the weekend, and mornings are best.
