Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach is a long hard-sand stretch of about 4 km parallel to NH66 between Thalassery and Kannur. Local rules allow cars to drive on a multi-kilometre section of the sand, and BBC Autos once listed it among notable drive-in beaches worldwide. Black rocks along the shore help shield parts of the beach from strong currents. Dharmadam Island is visible offshore to the south. The beach is roughly 7 to 8 km north of Thalassery town.
