Zeashta Devi Shrine

An ancient Shakti shrine on the Zabarwan hillside, sacred to Kashmiri Pandits since antiquity.

Zeashta Devi Shrine, also known as Zeathyar, is an ancient temple on the Zabarwan Mountain range around 7 km from Srinagar city, dedicated to the goddess Jyeshtha Devi, a form of Shakti. The site is mentioned in Kalhana's Rajatarangini and has been a tirtha of significance for Kashmiri Pandits since ancient times. A climb of 350 stone steps through forested hillside leads to the shrine, which rewards pilgrims with views across the valley.
