SPS Museum

Kashmir's premier heritage museum with Shaivite sculpture, miniature paintings and Pashmina textiles.

SPS Museum, formally the Shri Pratap Singh Museum, is Srinagar's oldest and most important museum. Founded in 1898 at the initiative of Maharaja Pratap Singh, it houses an exceptional collection of Kashmiri Buddhist and Hindu sculpture, Central Asian artefacts, Mughal miniature paintings, Pashmina textiles and papier-mache works. The building on the Jhelum at Lal Mandi is itself a heritage landmark, reached by crossing a footbridge over the river.
