Sharika Devi Temple

Presiding deity of Srinagar, an 18-armed goddess enshrined on Hari Parbat.

Sharika Devi Temple occupies the western slope of the sacred Hari Parbat hill in Srinagar. The temple enshrines Goddess Jagadamba Sharika Bhagwati, depicted with 18 arms and recognised as the presiding deity of the city by Kashmiri Pandits. A massive Swyambhu Shri Chakra carved into the rock is the centrepiece of worship. Devotees throng the temple during Navreh, the Kashmiri Pandit New Year, and on Sharika Jayanti, offering the traditional Taher Charvan prasad.
