Residency Road is one of Srinagar's most historically established shopping corridors, running parallel to Lal Chowk a short walk from the clock tower. The three-lane avenue is lined with a mix of handicraft boutiques, jewellery stores, Kashmiri clothing outlets, bookshops and cafes. It offers a slightly calmer alternative to Lal Chowk with a good concentration of shawl and textile shops, and is particularly lively in the early evening.
