A seven-terraced Mughal garden and former observatory with panoramic valley views.

Pari Mahal, the Palace of Fairies, crowns a ridge above Chashme Shahi and offers sweeping views of Srinagar and Dal Lake. Built in the 17th century by the scholar-prince Dara Shikoh as a library, madrasa and observatory, it stands as a six-terraced garden of arched ruins and flowering terraces. The ruined stone pavilions are particularly atmospheric at dusk, when the city lights spread across the valley below.
