Naseem Bagh

A large Mughal garden planted by Akbar with one of the oldest chinar groves in Kashmir.

Naseem Bagh, Garden of the Morning Breeze, is the oldest Mughal garden in Kashmir, planted by Emperor Akbar in 1586 before Shalimar and Nishat Bagh were conceived. The garden at the northern end of Dal Lake is famous for its grove of ancient chinar trees, some reportedly over 400 years old, and for its reflections in the lake. Less visited than the major gardens, it offers a more secluded experience and a direct sense of the age of the chinar-garden tradition.
