Khanqah-e-Mualla, also known as Shah Hamdan Mosque, is a stunning wooden structure on the banks of the Jhelum in old Srinagar. Built in the late 14th century in honour of the Central Asian Sufi saint Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani, the present building dates to around 1731 and is covered inside and out with delicate papier-mache floral reliefs and the geometric Khatamband faceted wood-panel ceilings that define Kashmiri architectural craft. Non-Muslims may view the exterior and entry porch.
