Hazratbal Shrine stands in white marble on the western bank of Dal Lake, occupying a position of supreme spiritual importance for Muslims of Kashmir. The shrine is revered as the custodian of the Moi-e-Muqaddas, a hair relic of the Prophet Muhammad, which is displayed publicly on select religious occasions drawing enormous gatherings of the faithful. The serene lakeside setting, domed silhouette and the reverence of worshippers combine to make it one of the most moving sites in Srinagar.
