Morena

About Morena

Morena is a historic town in northern Madhya Pradesh, known for its ancient temples, forts, and natural beauty. The region is home to the famous Bateshwar Temple Complex, a group of more than a hundred sandstone temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, built between the 8th and 10th centuries. Another attraction nearby is the Chausath Yogini Temple at Mitawali, said to have inspired the design of India’s Parliament building. The Chambal River flows close to Morena, offering boat rides and a chance to see rare wildlife like gharials and dolphins. With its blend of history, spirituality, and nature, Morena gives travelers a glimpse into the lesser-known heritage of central India.
