Overview

Mechuka is a remote high valley in Shi Yomi district, often spelled Menchuka, where the Siyom River opens into meadows framed by snow peaks. Travelers overnight here for the quiet valley floor, the centuries-old Samten Yongcha monastery, and the Gurudwara Sahib linked to Guru Nanak's travels. Homestays and camps sit close to the river, and the drive in from Aalo is long enough that most visitors plan at least two nights. Inner Line Permits are required for non-residents of Arunachal Pradesh.
