About Naggar Castle

Naggar Castle is a historic structure located in the village of Naggar, approximately 20 km from Manali. Built in the 15th century by Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu, the castle showcases a unique blend of Himalayan and European architectural styles. The castle is constructed using stone and wood, with traditional Himachali building techniques. It served as the capital of the Kullu kingdom for several centuries before the capital was moved to Sultanpur (present-day Kullu town). Today, the castle has been converted into a heritage hotel and houses the Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery, displaying works by the famous Russian artist who made Naggar his home. The castle offers stunning panoramic views of the Kullu Valley, the Beas River, and the surrounding mountains. The historic structure, with its ancient architecture and rich history, provides visitors with insights into the region's royal past and cultural heritage.
