Hampta Pass Trek
About Hampta Pass Trek
The Hampta Pass Trek is a dramatic 4-5 day crossover trek that connects the lush green Kullu Valley with the stark desert landscapes of the Lahaul Valley. The trek traverses the Hampta Pass at an altitude of 4,270 meters, offering one of the most contrasting landscape experiences in the Himalayas. Starting from Jobra near Manali, the trail passes through dense forests of pine and deodar, alpine meadows, glacial valleys, and high-altitude deserts. The trek features diverse terrain including vertical rock walls, cascading waterfalls, hanging glaciers, and pristine alpine lakes. Trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of peaks including Deo Tibba, Indrasan, and the surrounding mountain ranges. The dramatic change from the green Kullu Valley to the barren Spiti landscape at the pass is one of the trek's most remarkable features. The best time to undertake this trek is from June to September when the pass is accessible and the weather is favorable.
