About Hadimba Temple
The Hadimba Temple, also known as Hidimbi Devi Temple or Dhungri Temple, is a unique four-tiered pagoda-style wooden temple dedicated to Hadimba Devi, the wife of Bhima from the epic Mahabharata. Located amidst a serene cedar forest in Manali, the temple was built in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh. The temple's architecture is distinctive, featuring intricately carved wooden doors, walls, and a pagoda-style roof. The temple complex includes a small shrine housing a footprint on a stone, believed to be that of the goddess. The surrounding forest adds to the temple's mystical atmosphere, and the site is particularly beautiful during the annual Hadimba Devi fair held in May. The temple is one of the most important cultural and religious sites in Manali and attracts thousands of devotees and tourists throughout the year.
