About Great Himalayan National Park

The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Kullu region of Himachal Pradesh. Established in 1984 and declared a World Heritage Site in 2014, the park spans over 1,171 square kilometers and encompasses alpine meadows, glaciers, dense forests, and high-altitude peaks. The park is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity, housing over 375 species of fauna including the elusive snow leopard, Himalayan brown bear, blue sheep, and numerous bird species. The flora includes a variety of medicinal plants and rare Himalayan species. The park offers several trekking routes of varying difficulty levels, allowing visitors to explore pristine wilderness areas. It serves as an important conservation area for several endangered species and is a haven for nature enthusiasts, wildlife photographers, and adventure seekers. The park is accessible from various entry points including Gushaini, Ropa, and Sai Ropa.
