Lohagad Fort rises to over a thousand metres and remains one of the more approachable trekking destinations near Lonavala, with a moderate trail leading up from Lohagad Wadi village. At the summit, the narrow rock ridge nicknamed Vinchu Kata, or scorpion's tail, offers a thrilling walk flanked by clouds and open drops on either side. The fort's ramparts and gateways recall its long history under Maratha and earlier rulers, while the surrounding Pawna valley unfolds below in a patchwork of fields and reservoirs. Weekend trekkers and history seekers both find reasons to make the climb.
