Yumthang Valley sits about 25 km beyond Lachung at roughly 3,500 metres, with open alpine meadows, the Lachung Chu and ridges that fill with rhododendron in spring. Many travelers call it the Valley of Flowers of North Sikkim. A short stop at the nearby hot spring is common, and there is little lodging this far north, so most visits are day trips that return to Lachung by evening. Access sits inside the North Sikkim permit zone and can close with weather.
- How to Reach: Drive about 1 to 1.5 hours north from Lachung by hired SUV. The outing is usually combined with an optional push to Zero Point when permits and road conditions allow.
