Kushinagar Museum is an ASI-managed museum in Kushinagar, housing archaeological artefacts discovered from the sacred Buddhist site and surrounding regions. The museum's most prized possession is the Mathura School reclining Buddha statue (5th century CE) recovered from the Mahaparinirvana Temple excavations. The collection also includes terracotta figurines, coins, pottery, inscriptions, and sculptures spanning the Kushana and Gupta periods. The museum provides essential archaeological context for understanding Kushinagar's significance as the site of Buddha's Mahaparinirvana and the early spread of Buddhism.
