Cherai Beach

Cherai Beach is a pristine 15-km long beach on Vypeen Island, about 25 km north of Kochi, known for its calm shallow waters and clean sands. Unlike the busier beaches near the city, Cherai has retained a relaxed, local character. The beach is unique for its proximity to the Vembanad Lake backwaters, allowing visitors to see dolphins during certain seasons and enjoy both sea and lake views in the same setting. Coconut palms line the shore, fishing boats dot the horizon, and the gentle waves make it suitable for swimming. Cherai is increasingly popular as a day trip or weekend escape from Kochi.
