Monkey Point Hanuman Temple

Hanuman temple on Kasauli's highest point, inside an Air Force station, with wide views over the plains on clear days.

Monkey Point, also called Manki Point, is the highest point in Kasauli, about 4 km from the bus stand. A small Hanuman temple sits at the top. Local belief holds that Hanuman set foot here while carrying the Sanjeevani herb, and HPTDC links the name to Rishi Man-Ki, who worshipped an idol of Hanuman on the summit.

The hill lies inside an Air Force station, so the rules are strict. Register at the guard post at the end of the Lower Mall, carry an original government photo ID, and leave phones, cameras and bags behind. Entry usually closes around 5 pm and photography is not allowed. The last stretch is a steep climb, so wear good shoes. On a clear day you can see the plains and the glint of the Sutlej.
