The Gilbert Trail leads up from Sunset Point to a viewpoint on Gilbert Hill. Few visitors make the climb, so it is far quieter than the Mall, and many walkers find the view over the valleys even better than from Sunset Point. The path runs through pine and oak forest and is an easy walk for most people.
Gilbert Hill is an army area. Stay on the marked path, do not photograph installations, and be back out by 6:30 pm.

- How to Reach: Walk to Sunset Point (about 1 km from the bus stand), then follow the trail uphill.
