The Madan Mohan Ji temple is inside the City Palace complex and is the most important temple in Karauli town. According to tradition, the idol of Madan Mohan (Krishna) was first worshipped in Vrindavan and was moved to Jaipur for safety during Aurangzeb's rule. Raja Gopal Singh of Karauli brought it to Karauli, and the temple dates its installation here to 1742. The temple follows the Braj style of worship, with several darshan times a day, and the evening aarti draws a large local crowd.
