About Jowai

Jowai is the main town of the Jaintia Hills in eastern Meghalaya, set among pine ridges and monsoon-fed valleys. Travelers come for turquoise pools at Krang Suri Falls, the quieter cascade of Phe Phe Falls, and the stone culture of nearby Nartiang. Markets, Jaintia food, and easy road links from Shillong make day circuits simple. The town sits roughly 64 km east of Shillong on the National Highway toward Silchar. Come for waterfalls, monoliths, and a slower Jaintia Hills rhythm than the Khasi circuit.
