The Garh Palace was the residence and administrative centre of the rulers of Jhalawar State and dominates the centre of town. Built in the 19th century, it has painted halls and mirror work in its inner rooms. Part of the palace houses the Government Museum, founded in 1915 and one of the oldest in Rajasthan. It has sculptures from the old temples around Jhalrapatan, coins, old manuscripts and paintings. Parts of the palace are used as government offices.
