Sisodia Rani Garden and Palace

Sisodia Rani Garden and Palace

Terraced 18th century garden and palace on the old Agra road, built by Sawai Jai Singh II for his Sisodia queen, with fountains and Krishna murals.

Sisodia Rani Garden lies at Ghat ki Guni on the eastern edge of Jaipur, along the old road to Agra. Sawai Jai Singh II laid it out in the 18th century for his queen from the Sisodia family of Udaipur, as a series of terraces climbing the hillside to a small palace. Water channels and fountains run down between the flower beds, and the walls of the pavilions are painted with scenes from the life of Krishna. Vidyadhar Garden is next door and Galta Ji is a short drive away, so the three make an easy half day together.
