Sheesh Mahal

Sheesh Mahal

Mirror hall in the royal apartments of Amber Fort, covered in convex glass and inlay; seen as part of the Amber Fort visit.

The Sheesh Mahal is the hall of mirrors in the Jai Mandir, part of the royal apartments around the Mughal style garden in Amber Fort's third courtyard. Its walls and ceilings are covered with small convex mirrors and coloured glass set into plaster, above marble panels carved with flowers, and it is said that a single lamp could once light up the whole room. Visitors look in from the doorways rather than walking through. There is no separate ticket: the Sheesh Mahal is part of the Amber Fort visit (₹200 Indian, ₹1,000 foreign, or the Jaipur composite ticket), so plan it as one stop on the fort route.
