Samode Palace stands at the foot of the Aravalli hills in Samode village, about 42 km north west of Jaipur. A fort from the 16th century, it was rebuilt as a palace in the early 19th century under Rawal Berisal, and its painted Durbar Hall and mirror work Sheesh Mahal are among the finest interiors in the Jaipur region. The palace is now a heritage hotel. Non residents can visit for a fee by prior arrangement, usually with a meal, but entry may be refused during private events, so contact the hotel before you go. Samode Fort is on the hill above the village.
