Jaigarh Fort crowns the Cheel ka Teela ridge directly above Amber Fort. Sawai Jai Singh II built it in 1726 to guard Amer and its palace, and its walls run for about 3 km along the hilltops, with views down to Amber Fort and Maota Lake. The main draw is the Jaivana cannon, cast in the fort's own foundry in 1720 and often described as the world's largest cannon on wheels. The fort also has an armoury and museum, huge rainwater tanks, gardens and watchtowers, and old passages link it to Amber Fort below. Allow at least an hour, and longer if you want to walk the ramparts.
