About Harsil
Overview
Harsil is a village and army area on the Bhagirathi in Uttarkashi district, on the road to Gangotri about 25 km before the temple. It is known for apple orchards and deodar forest and is a quieter place to stay than Gangotri. Mukhba village, across the river, is the winter home of Goddess Ganga after the Gangotri temple closes.
