Tungnath is the third of the Panch Kedar shrines and stands at about 3,680 metres above Chopta. Start the Tungnath walk from Chopta on the well-marked 3.5 km stone trail through rhododendron and oak, a climb of about 1,000 metres that most walkers finish in 2 to 3 hours. The temple closes in winter and the deity is moved down to Makku village. Stay in Chopta or nearby Baniyakund and start before dawn if you also want Chandrashila the same morning.
