Qasr Al Hosn is Abu Dhabi's oldest surviving stone building and the ancestral home of the Al Nahyan family. The Inner Fort dates to around 1795. An Outer Palace was added between 1939 and 1945 on the site of an earlier watchtower from about 1790, often described as Abu Dhabi's first permanent structure. Together they tell the story of the city from a pearling settlement to a modern capital.
