Blue Flag city beach and waterfront promenade on Corniche Road, with free and paid sections and clear swimming rules.

Corniche Beach is Abu Dhabi's main city beach: about 2 km of sand, a long promenade, gardens and Gulf views toward Lulu Island. Visit Abu Dhabi describes it as Blue Flag certified and splits it into sections. Al Sahil at Gate 4 is listed for singles and larger groups with free entry. Other gated family sections may charge; Visit Abu Dhabi FAQs also note entry fees of AED 10 for adults and AED 5 for children for Corniche Beach, so check which gate you use.

Come for a morning walk, sunset photos or a swim when lifeguards are on duty. Facilities typically include showers, changing areas and cafes along the waterfront. Dress modestly away from the sand; swimwear stays at the beach. Midday summer heat is intense, so mornings and evenings are more comfortable.

It is free to stroll the Corniche promenade even if you skip the sand. Combine with Qasr Al Hosn or Heritage Village nearby. Confirm current gate fees, opening times and swimming rules before you go, as municipality arrangements can change.
