Ugadi / Gudi Padwa marks the Hindu New Year in several parts of India and is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana (Ugadi) and Maharashtra (Gudi Padwa). Observed in March-April, the festival signifies new beginnings, prosperity, and the arrival of spring.

Ugadi is known for the preparation of Ugadi Pachadi, a special dish made with ingredients symbolizing different emotions of life. Gudi Padwa is marked by hoisting a Gudi, a decorated flag with a pot placed atop, outside homes as a symbol of victory and good fortune.

The festival is celebrated with prayers, traditional attire, festive meals, and cultural rituals, reflecting hope, renewal, and positivity for the year ahead.
