Deepotsav is Ayodhya's Diwali festival, organised by the Uttar Pradesh government every year since 2017. On the main night, volunteers light lakhs of clay diyas along Ram ki Paidi and the ghats of the Saryu, and the riverfront glows for about two kilometres. Previous editions have set Guinness World Records for the number of lamps lit at once.

The 10th edition runs from 5 to 7 November 2026, with preparations for about 33 lakh diyas. The programme includes a procession of tableaux from Saket Mahavidyalaya, Ramlila and cultural shows at Ramkatha Park, Saryu aarti, and decorated temples across the town. The big lamp lighting is on the evening of 7 November (Chhoti Diwali), and Diwali itself falls on 8 November.

Ayodhya is extremely crowded during Deepotsav, and entry to Ram ki Paidi is restricted on the main evening. Book rooms early, expect traffic diversions and long walks from parking, and watch the lamps from the far bank or a nearby ghat if the main stretch is closed. Special trains and extra buses usually run for the festival.
