Mogalarajapuram Caves, excavated roughly 1500 years ago during the Eastern Chalukya or Vishnukundin period, form a group of rock cut cave temples dedicated to Shiva. Idols of Ganesh and Nataraja along with pillared sanctuaries and bas relief carvings mark the site. Located close to the city centre, the caves fit easily into an hour long stop on a heritage focused itinerary.
