Khuldabad sits about eight kilometers from Verul and carries the nickname Valley of Saints for the many Sufi shrines scattered within its old town walls. The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb chose to be buried here in a deliberately plain, unmarked grave, a striking contrast to the ornate tombs built by his predecessors. The town's mix of dargahs and quiet lanes offers a different pace from the temple and cave sites nearby.
