Vishalakshi Temple

Vishalakshi Temple in Varanasi is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, marking the spot where the eyes (or earrings, according to some traditions) of Goddess Sati are believed to have fallen. Located near Meer Ghat on the banks of the Ganga, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Vishalakshi (the wide-eyed one) and is one of the most important goddess shrines in Varanasi. The temple is closely associated with Kashi's identity as a Shakti pilgrimage destination alongside its fame as a Shaivite city.
